AhlulBayt News Agency: The fifth session of Imam Reza Taskforce was hosted by Astan Quds Razavi in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad in a bid to pave the way for Iranians abroad to visit Imam Reza shrine.
The session was chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and attended by Dr. Jalali, Deputy for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qalandar Sharif, Mayor of Mashhad, Hoj. Teymour Ali Asgari, Deputy for Cultural and Social Affairs of Khorasan Razavi Province, Hoj. Mostafa Faghih Esfandiari, Deputy for International Affairs of AQR, and Mousavi, Director General of Cultural Heritage and Tourism of Khorasan Razavi Province, in Martyr Soleimani conference room of Astan Quds Razavi (AQR).
The session reviewed such topics as identification of issues faced by international pilgrims, and it was decided that after drafting detailed programs, serious steps would be taken to organize pilgrims' issues.
Expanding the presence of international pilgrims in the holy city of Mashhad was another topic discussed in the meeting. Given the capacity of Mashhad as an internationally recognized metropolis, it was suggested to review the holding of regional meetings in the city.
Furthermore, issues related to transportation, borders, visas, pilgrim insurance, and other related matters were discussed.
Another topic raised in this session was facilitating the presence of Iranians abroad in Mashhad and their pilgrimage to Imam Reza shrine.
It is worth noting that one of the goals of Imam Reza Taskforce is execution of pilgrimage diplomacy, which, as part of public diplomacy, can be considered one of the national-level objectives. In this regard, AQR, considering the capacities of the shrine, can play a significant role.
