AhlulBayt News Agency: The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has denounced Israeli raids on UNRWA-run schools in occupied Al-Quds.
The Israeli police stormed the UNRWA-run Al-Quds Elementary School in Silwan town and interrogated its management. The raids also targeted another school in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood, and a vocational training center in the Qalandiya refugee camp.
Lazzarini said the incidents impacted 250 students in three UNRWA schools in Occupied Al-Quds and 350 trainees present in the Kalandia Training Center, a large United Nations compound.
This is a violation of the basic right to education as well as of United Nations privileges and immunities, he added.
“Children’s access to education must be preserved, while United Nations facilities must be protected and respected at all times wherever they are.”
