AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): It snowed in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, on Tuesday for the first time in more than 40 years.
Pilgrims who visited the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) and the area between the two shrines known as Bayn al-Haramayn, enjoyed the sight not seen for decades.
Annual snowfall is common in the mountainous northern region of Iraq, but very rare in Baghdad and southern cities like Karbala. The last time Karbala saw snow was four decades ago.
