AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Iran's President described the sincere, friendly relations with Turkey, as a neighbouring and Muslim country, of great importance for Iran and emphasised on the development and deepening of relations with the country in various political, economic and trade fields.
Speaking in a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday evening, Dr Hassan Rouhani congratulated the government and people of Turkey on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, and said, "Relations between the two countries are based on friendship and intimacy, and the development of cooperation between the two countries can help strengthen friendly relations and playing a better role in the region".
Referring to the plans made to hold the 28th Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between Iran and Turkey this year, Dr Rouhani mentioned the Joint Commission as a roadmap for economic and trade relations between the two countries and expressed hope that the successful holding of the meeting would further enhance cooperation in the fields of energy, transportation and trade and commodity exchanges between the two countries.
Emphasising the need to take advantage of all capacities for cooperation between the two countries to develop and deepen bilateral relations, the President said that the use of the capacities and capabilities of the private sector and economic companies operating in the two countries can help achieve this goal.
Referring to the widespread outbreak of a new wave of COVID-19 in different countries including Iran and Turkey, Dr Rouhani stressed the need for the two countries to work together to combat coronavirus and share experiences and capabilities in fighting the disease.
Referring to Tehran-Ankara cooperation in regional and international issues, including resolving the Syrian crisis through the Astana talks, the President stressed the continuation of this cooperation and said, "Cooperation between Iran and Turkey, as two important countries in the region, can be effective in resolving regional problems and crises".
In another part of his conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Dr Rouhani referred to the recent developments and terrorist acts of the Zionist Regime in the region, as well as nuclear terrorism, and emphasised, "Cooperation among regional countries is essential to ensure security, peace and stability".
"We consider the presence of the usurper Zionist Regime in the region dangerous and a serious confrontation with it is necessary," he said.
In this telephone call, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also congratulated the government and people of Iran on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, emphasising Ankara's serious will to develop and deepen friendly relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this phone call, Erdogan expressed satisfaction that the cooperation between the two countries has continued even during the outbreak of coronavirus.
He went on to describe the holding of the meeting of the Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Commission this year as a clear example of the high determination of the two countries for the development and deepening of bilateral relations, especially in the economic and trade fields.
