Iran’s mosques to be cleaned, dusted ahead of Ramadan in February 26

February 26 will be the day of cleaning and dusting mosques in Iran to prepare the places of worship for the holy month of Ramadan.

AhlulBayt News Agency: February 26 will be the day of cleaning and dusting mosques in Iran to prepare the places of worship for the holy month of Ramadan.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Ehsan Mousavi, the cultural and social deputy of the Mosque Affairs Center, announced this in a press conference in Tehran on Sunday.

He noted that the mosque cleaning events will be held as part of the activities of the Ten-Day Mosques Celebration, which is held every year in the last ten days of the lunar Hijri month of Shaaban.

“Mosque, Manifestation of the Quran” is the motto of this year’s celebration, the cleric noted.

He said that during the ten-day programs, major mosques that hosted Itikaf (religious retreat) ceremonies will be honored.

The unveiling of the “My Mosque” platform will also take place, he noted, adding that on this platform, prayer leaders will daily report the activities happening in their mosques.

Every year, on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, mosques across Iran are cleaned and prepared to host worshippers during the month of fasting.

Ramadan is the ninth and most sacred month of the Islamic calendar, in which Muslims commemorate the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations.

They also devote more time to prayer, charity and good deeds, seeking to strengthen their faith and purify their souls.
