Translation of Tasnim Exegesis of Quran to help guide humanity: Senior Cleric

AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Iranian cleric calls for translation of Tasnim Exegesis of the Quran into different languages.

Ayatollah Mohsen Qomi, head of the Leader’s International Communications Office, has commended the Tasnim Exegesis of the Quran, highlighting its role in making Quranic teachings accessible to all.

He noted that Quran interpretations help in preserving the holy text from neglect, quoting verse 30 of Surah Al-Furqan which reads: “And the Apostle will say, ‘O my Lord! Indeed my people consigned this Quran to oblivion.’”

Quran interpretations guide believers to the source of divine wisdom, as Tasnim “offers a clear stream of knowledge to elevate those who partake from it,” he said, adding that great Shia scholars have long worked to ensure the Quran remains a source of guidance, healing, and mercy.

Praising Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli’s 40-year endeavor in Quranic interpretation, Qomi described Tasnim as a monumental achievement, comparable to Allameh Tabataba’i’s Al-Mizan.

“While major Quranic commentaries historically emerged once every seven centuries, through the legacy of Imam Sadiq’s (AS) school, Tasnim has appeared less than 50 years after Al-Mizan, quenching the thirst of those seeking divine knowledge,” he stated.

Approximately 500 scholars and researchers from the seminary of Qom contributed to producing this extensive Persian-language commentary, noted Qomi, adding, “This work not only interprets the Quran but also enriches the Persian language, encouraging scholars worldwide to learn Persian to access its insights.”

He further highlighted that Tasnim has inspired over 600 academic theses and dissertations, fostering advancements in Islamic humanities and illuminating the Quran’s civilizational dimensions.

Qomi underscored Ayatollah Javadi Amoli’s humility, who regards Tasnim as the collective achievement of the Qom Seminary rather than a personal accomplishment.

“It is our hope that scholars and seekers of divine knowledge worldwide will benefit from Tasnim and that its translation into various languages will help guide humanity,” he said.

The 'Tasnim Exegesis' stands as one of the most detailed interpretations of the Quran in Islamic history. Completed over a span of 40 years, the work comprises 80 volumes.

In 2006, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) recognized it as the "Top Research Work in the Field of Islamic and Quranic Studies."

The exegesis employs a multidimensional approach, combining classical tafsir methodology with modern philosophical and theological insights, and extensively engages with both Sunni and Shia interpretations, as well as Islamic mysticism and rational discourse.
