For the past three decades Iran has invited Islamic religious leaders, Sunni and Shia from all over the globe to Tehran, to discuss unity among Muslims. The Islamic Unity conference calls each year for greater convergence among Muslim groups. The 28th Islamic Unity Conference will start work in Iran Capital City of Tehran with Prominent religious clerics and high-profile government officials in attendance.
The event coincides with the unity week in Iran, a week that was named in the early years following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. This week all Muslims Sunni and Shia celebrate the birth of the prophet of Islam. Every year on this week Iran holds a conference gathering religious leaders, scholars and clerics in the capital city Tehran focusing on Islamic Unity.
The World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought will mount The 28th Islamic Unity Conference under the banner of “Islamic United Ummah, Challenges and Roadmaps” on January 7th , 2015.
It is worthwhile to note that the top Unity Body will also hold a ceremony in the second of the three day conference to mark birthday of Islam Prophet (PBUH).
The 28th Islamic Unity Conference will be held in the presence of prominent religious figures and gather Islamic religious leaders, Sunni and Shia from all over the globe to Tehran.
“Palestine and Gaza” and “Islamic Unity” are of the issues which will be discussed in the event.
It is worthwhile to note that Iran President Hasan Rouhani will deliver a speech in the opening ceremony of the conference. The event will come to an end on January 9th.
Secretary of the World Form for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki will delineated the set objectives, programs and priorities of the event in his press conference which is to be held on Saturday January 3rd.
