The construction of a new mosque began on Sunday in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia.

Once built, the mosque will look like the Masjid al-Nabi in the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia.

It will accommodate up to 50,000 worshippers and will include an Islamic school, a library of Islamic books and a hotel.

The report did not say when the mosque will be completed and ready to welcome worshippers.

The Republic of Dagestan is a predominantly Muslim republic of Russia located in the North Caucasus region.
