(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Ayatollah Mohsen Araki conferred with Istanbul Grand Mufti Professor Kamel Yilmaz on issues of mutual interest.

Muslim unity discussed by Ayatollah Araki, Istanbul’s grand mufti

The meeting between Ayatollah Araki and Professor Yilmaz took place in Istanbul on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Professor Yilmaz pointed to age old relations between Iran and Turkey and the two countries’ cultural and religious commonalities, and called for broadening of cooperation between the two countries’ religious scholars and thinkers.

He reiterated that the two countries have had cultural commonalities since the era of Ottoman Empire.

Ayatollah Araki, for his part, said that the most important objective of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought is realization of the unity of Muslim Ummah and confronting Islamophobia as well as further proximity of the two countries’ religious and cultural institutions.
