AhlulBayt News Agency: The Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Center of the Iranian Red Crescent Society announced a call for volunteers to join the medical staff serving during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

The center said it intends to provide healthcare services to pilgrims participating in the massive Arbaeen procession in 2025, as it has in previous years, by dispatching volunteer and applicant medical, paramedical, and support staff to its medical bases in Iraq for this year’s Arbaeen operations.

Applicants and candidates can register until July 6 by completing and updating their information in the recruitment and dispatch system, taking into account the voluntary nature of the services and the age requirement.

The duration of attendance at the clinics in Iraq during the Arbaeen season will be 20 days from the date of dispatch and will be on a voluntary basis.

The medical staff needed for serving during the Arbaeen march includes general practitioners, cardiologists, internal medicine specialists, emergency medicine specialists, obstetricians and gynecologists, infectious disease specialists, orthopedic specialists, pediatricians, general surgeons, anesthesiologists, and psychiatrists.

The paramedics being dispatched include nurses, emergency medical technicians, pharmacy technicians, midwives, laboratory technicians, and specialists. Arabic language translators, IT specialists, hospital services, and facilities personnel will also be part of the support teams.

Arbaeen is a religious event observed by Shia Muslims on the fortieth day after the Day of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam.

It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries. This year, the day of Arbaeen falls on August 15.
