Iranian official stresses magnificent International Quds Day rallies this year

Head of the Intifada and Quds Day Headquarters Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif underlined the importance of planning and making efforts to hold magnificent rallies on the International Quds Day this year.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Head of the Intifada and Quds Day Headquarters Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif underlined the importance of planning and making efforts to hold magnificent rallies on the International Quds Day this year.

Every year on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, worldwide rallies are held to support the Palestinian people’s resistance against the Israeli regime and the struggle to liberate their territories, which have been occupied by the regime for decades.

The International Quds Day is among the legacies of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who is revered as a spiritual leader by Muslims across the world.

Back in 1979, shortly after leading an Islamic Revolution which toppled the US-backed Shah of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini named the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadan the Quds Day.

Speaking in a press conference in Tehran on Monday, General Sharif referred to special conditions this year, saying the people of the Gaza Strip stood against the Zionist regime for one and a half years and demonstrated a new level of resistance.

They proved they are ready to make sacrifices to defend their dignity and their land and remained committed to their ideals despite the Israeli regime’s atrocities and the martyrdom of more than 50,000 people, he said.

He also noted that today, the Americans and Israelis are attempting to achieve what they haven’t been able to so far by proposing the relocation of Gaza’s residents.

“For the first time, they have included Saudi Arabia and Iraq along with Jordan and Egypt in the plan for the forced migration of the people of Gaza, while considering Syria as already achieved.

Such moves and the victory of the resistance front over the Zionists have created different conditions for the International Quds Day this year, he stated.

General Sharif underscored that the axis of resistance, including Iraq, Yemen, Palestine and the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with all freedom-loving people of the world support Palestine.

“I hope we will put forth all our efforts to witness a different International Quds Day. We don’t have much time ahead. The International Quds Day falls on March 28…, and we need to collaborate on planning, discussions, strategies, and implementing programs… before the Nowruz holidays (which starts on March 21),” he went on to say.
