AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On Sunday, February 2, 2025, marking the anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, the Secretary-General and staff of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly visited the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini (r.a.) and the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution. During this ceremony, the Assembly’s officials and staff paid tribute to the late Imam by offering a wreath and renewed their allegiances to the ideals of the great architect of the Islamic Revolution.
During this ceremony, Hojat al-Islam Sayed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the late Imam and the custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Khomeini (r.a.), remarked, “The month of Sha’ban is closely associated with the Sha’baniyah supplication. The Supreme Leader of the Revolution has repeatedly expressed that he prefers two supplications over all others: one is the Kumayl, and the other is the Sha’baniyah supplication. The Sha’baniyah supplication is authentic in terms of narration and document. But it is accepted as authentic due to the loftiness of its content.”
He continued, “One of the phrases in the Sha’baniyah supplication states: ‘إِلٰهِی إِنَّ مَنِ انْتَهَجَ بِکَ لَمُسْتَنِیرٌ، وَ إِنَّ مَنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِکَ لَمُسْتَجِیرٌ، وَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِکَ یَا إِلٰهِی فَلا تُخَیِّبْ ظَنِّی مِنْ رَحْمَتِکَ، وَلَا تَحْجُبْنِی عَنْ رَأْفَتِکَ’ (My God, indeed, whoever seeks a path through You has an illuminated way, and whoever seeks refuge in You is granted protection. And I have sought refuge in You, O my God, so do not let my hope in Your mercy be disappointed, and do not withhold Your kindness from me). “انْتَهَاجَ” (Intihaj) means taking and choosing a clear path. This phrase is going to say that whoever chooses the path seeks light from God. However, one must first take the step and then seek divine illumination. Before beginning the journey, one cannot ask for blessings. First, one must set foot on the path, and then God will bestow His grace and generosity upon him or her. The story of the late Imam and other great figures is summarized in this phrase: they declared that seeking divine light without action is a mere play on words. Sitting idly and saying, ‘God willing, everything will be fine’ is not seeking illumination.”
The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Imam Khomeini (r.a.) added, “We must put our trust in God. Problems will arise, but once you step into the field, God will assist you. Many people recite the supplication ‘اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَرْغَبُ إِلَیْکَ فِی دَوْلَةٍ کَرِیمَةٍ (O Allah, indeed we yearn for the noble government), but they must be asked: where do you stand in this effort, and what have you done for this noble government? This was the distinguishing characteristic of Imam Khomeini (r.a.). He initiated the movement and declared that he must begin. Of course, God also assisted him. However, even if this assistance had not occurred, the late Imam would still have been victorious. Because in the Holy Quran God states, ‘أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَی* وَ أَنْ لَیْسَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَی* وَ أَنَّ سَعْیَهُ سَوْفَ یُرَی (That no laden one shall bear another’s load, * And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, * And that his effort will be seen.) (53: 38-40). Here, the Quran does not mention the result; rather, it says that one will see the result of his or her own effort.”
He emphasized, “For this reason, we must strive and make efforts, and whether we see the result or not, we will still be rewarded equally. This statement by Imam Khomeini (r.a.) aboard the plane on his return to Iran after the exile, when, in response to a question about his feelings, he said, “Nothing”, and opponents of the revolution widely propagated it, has historical precedence and exists in religious texts. It means, ‘Are we in control of anything? (Everything is in God’s hands.) (I have done my part.) The outcome is not our concern; we are only fulfilling our duty’.”
