Senior Iraqi cleric: Islamic Revolution paving way for reappearance of Savior

A senior Iraqi cleric said the Islamic Revolution of Iran that was led to victory by Imam Khomeini (RA) in 1979 has paved the way for the reappearance of the Savior.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A senior Iraqi cleric said the Islamic Revolution of Iran that was led to victory by Imam Khomeini (RA) in 1979 has paved the way for the reappearance of the Savior.

Ayatollah Seyed Yaseen Mousawi, a Najaf Islamic Seminary instructor, made the remark in an address to a ceremony held on the occasion of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory and the birthday of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).

He said that thanks to the Islamic Revolution, the remembrance of Imam Zaman (AS) is prevalent in all seminaries, whereas previously it had been neglected.

For a long time, Shia political Fiqh (jurisprudence) during the era of occultation remained unaddressed, he said. “However, after the establishment of the Safavid rule (in Iran), there was a breakthrough in religious seminaries for examining certain issues of political jurisprudence and the topic of the Wilayat Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurist).”

He added that Muhaqqiq Karaki was the first scholar to discuss political jurisprudence in detail and wrote a treatise on this subject.

“In Islam, there exists a political system, and the Imams (AS) play a fundamental role in Islamic political jurisprudence because they possess innate authority, legislative authority, and authority in governance. Governing is exclusive to the pure Imams and those designated by them.”

He added that the concept of Wilayat Faqih has existed since the Minor Occultation.

The only person who established a fully-fledged Islamic state was Imam Khomeini (RA), Ayatollah Mousawi went on to say.
