AhlulBayt News Agency: Salama Ma’rouf, the head of the Government Media Office (GMO), said the Gaza Strip needs no less than 60,000 mobile homes and 200,000 tents to provide temporary shelter for hundreds of thousands of families who lost their homes.
Marouf said in a press statement on Friday morning, “A limited number of mobile homes (12 caravans) entered the Strip this morning”, noting that “they are designated for international organizations.”
He pointed out that what has reached the Strip so far is “less than half of our need for tents, and no mobile homes have arrived.”
Marouf stressed that the Israeli occupation’s behavior is characterized by procrastination and hesitation, in an attempt to evade its pledges towards the humanitarian protocol of the ceasefire agreement, disregarding the humanitarian catastrophe caused by its war of extermination against the people of the Gaza Strip.
He called on the international community and mediators to push for bringing in the urgent needs of shelter, relief, and health care, and to prevent Israel from practicing blackmail against the people in Gaza and exacerbating their suffering by obstructing the entry of basic shelter needs.
He also called for accelerating the convening of an international conference to discuss Gaza reconstruction, urging the upcoming Arab summit in Saudi Arabia to adopt a decision to open the Rafah crossing around the clock, and to bring in everything needed for relief, shelter, and reconstruction, and to respond to the distress call launched by the people in Gaza to declare the Gaza Strip a disaster zone.
